Safiah has a MPhil in Islamic Studies & History from the University of Oxford. Under the supervision of Professor Tariq Ramadan and Dr. Christopher Melchert, her thesis was a comparative look at Sunnī political authority between the 5th AH/11th CE and the 8th AH/14th CE centuries with a particular focus on al-Aḥkām as-Sulṭāniyyah and the writings of Ibn Taymiyyah. While at Oxford, Safiah served as the Graduate Representative for the Oxford University Islamic Society. Safiah also holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Political Studies and Global Development Studies from Queen's University. While at Queen's, she served as President & CEO of the undergraduate student government (Alma Mater Society) in 2010/2011.
Safiah is also a former executive of MYNA Toronto, Queen's University Muslim Student Association (QUMSA), and Oxford University Islamic Society. She is currently an instructor at the Islamic Institute of Toronto (IIT) and at the Al-Nadwa Institute.
